THE SOCIETY COLLECTS AND DISTRIBUTES FOOD TO THOSE IN NEED AND RUNS A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT ITS MISSIONS AS FOLLOWS: - THE SOCIETY PROVIDES SUPPLEMENTARY FOOD TO OVER 28,000 PEOPLE WEEKLY THROUGH 13FOOD HUBS AND OVER 75 COMMUNITY AGENGIES LOCATED IN VANCOUVER, BURNABY, NEW WESTMINSTER, WEST VANCOUVER AND NORTH VANCOUVER. -EACH YEAR, THE SOCIETY WAREHOUSE MOVES 4.2 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD, ON AVERAGE, IN AND OUT OF THE 36,000 SQUARE FOOT FACILTIY. -APPROXIMATIVELY 90,379 MEALS WERE PROVIDED THROUGH THE SOCIETY'S MEAL PROGRAMS IN FISCAL 2019 AND OVER 1,600 PIECES OF KITCHEN EQUIPMENT WERE SHARED. - PROJECT CHEF TRANSFORMS CLASSROOMS INTO COOKING SPACES AND TEACHERS CHILDREN THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO MAKE WHOLESOME, NUTRITIOUS MEALS FOR THEMSELVES; 15,000 CHILDREN WERE REACHED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM. - BABY PROGRAMS - TO ASSIST FAMILIES COPING WITH THE CHALLENGES OF RAISING A YOUNG INFANT BY PROVIDING THEM WITH NEEDED FOOD, FORMULA AND DIAPERS - KIDS PICKS PROVIDES PRESCHOOOLERS AGED TWO TO SIX YEARS WITH A SUPPLEMENTAL BAG OF NUTRITIOUS FOOD THAT HELPS TO PROVIDE THE ESSENTIAL VITAMINS, MINERAL AND FOOD TEXTURE NEEDED FOR PROPER GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT. -GOODLY FOOD PROJECT IS A COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE THAT AIMS TO DEVELOP A VALID SOCIAL ENTERPRISE RE-PURPOSING SURPLUS PRODUCE FROM LOCAL SUPPLIERS WHILE CREATING SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
