The Rick Hansen Foundation (RHF) is dedicated to creating an inclusive world where people with disabilities are living to their full potential. For over three decades, the Foundation has facilitated collaboration, forged partnerships and generated social innovations. We continue to develop programs and initiatives that raise awareness, change attitudes and remove barriers in the built environment for people with disabilities. We also fund innovative spinal cord injury related research through the Rick Hansen Institute (RHI) and the International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries (ICORD). Our programs include the RHF School Program, RHF Ambassador Program, Awareness programs including research, campaigns and social media initiatives and the RHF Accessibility Certification Program including Access Grants. The Foundation is accredited by the Imagine Canada's Standards Program, demonstrating our ongoing adherence to best practices in board governance, financial accountability and transparency, fundraising, staff management and volunteer involvement. Political Activities Description Political Activities Description As a priority over the past year, the Rick Hansen Foundation's public policy dialogue has encompassed advocacy to support the passing of the Accessible Canada Act (C-81), which is vitally important to our nation and in line with the Foundation's vision of building an inclusive world where people with disabilities are living to their full potential by removing barriers and liberating the potential of people with disabilities. In keeping with our charitable purpose, the Foundation worked with FALA (Federal Accessibility Legislation Alliance) on various outreach and advocacy initiatives in support of the proposed legislation. Our support included participation in consultation processes with stakeholders, communications activities (speaking events, social media, meetings and workshops), formulation of recommendations for amendments to the Bill, and engagementwith various levels of government and the corporate sector to further discussions about accessibility in Canada and the importance of the Bill's passage.
